About Nate’s Great Plumbing

Our History

Nate started out as an apprentice, under a master plumber who demanded perfection, in 2011.  He learned every aspect of the trade including replacing fixtures, water heaters, plumbing new construction homes, remodels and commercial plumbing.  After 5 years, he earned his masters license.  Nate, along with the master plumber he learned from, opened a niche water heater replacement company.  Nate led a team of 5 installers, training them and maintaining company culture in the field.

In 2023, Nate opened Nate’s Great Plumbing.  He runs a one man shop, providing exceptional service without the high overhead costs of our larger competitors. This means greater value for our customers!  Nate is thorough and diligent in his work, providing 100% customer satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a new water heater?

A typical water heater life is about 10-12 years.  If your water heater is more than 15 years old, it would be a good idea to be proactive and get it replaced.  Common things to watch out for if your water heater is nearing the end of its life are:

  • The water isn’t getting as hot as it used to
  • There is water on or around the water heater
  • There is a loud popping sound when the water heater ignites
  • Having to relight the pilot light often

Should I drain my water heater?

Yes, it is a good idea to drain your water heater regularly.

However, if your water heater is more than 6 years old or older, it can cause more harm than good if you have never drained it. Sediment can scale the sides and bottom of the tank.  If you drain the tank, it can relieve the pressure and rip the scaling off, like ripping off a scab, thus creating a leak.

Is tankless worth it?

In most cases, yes, if you have gas already running inside the home.  We only install gas tankless water heaters; electric tankless are not great options for whole home water heating.  Tankless can deliver unlimited hot water all day long and is one of the most efficient water heaters on the market, which means saving money on your gas bill month after month.  It also has more longevity than a tank style heater with a stronger warranty and eliminates the liability of having gallons and gallons of water in a tank that could rupture causing damage.

How do I know if I need a water softener?

If you feel like your hair is never clean even after getting out of the shower.

If there are spots on your faucets, or rings are the drains of your sinks or toilets.

Even if you already have a softener in your home, it could be time for a new one if the media in the softener has been exhausted.

There are also ways to treat your water besides a softener with a whole home filtration system or a carbon filter.

I have well water- am I treating it properly?

There are lots of minerals in your well water that should be taken out to prolong the plumbing and fixtures in your home.  You should not rely on a water softener alone to remove those minerals, as you will end up replacing your softener more frequently. A spin down filter and iron filter are essential to removing unwanted minerals, before entering the softener,  to make sure your water is safe for your home.

Happy Customers

I don’t think Nate has even pulled away from the house and I’m already writing a review because I was that impressed.  We had put off a couple of repairs because we thought they would be costly and time consuming. Nate was here less than two hours and that included running to grab a part and both repairs are done!

He was very transparent about the repairs, explained what was needed and gave clear pricing. Zero pressure and definitely not sales-y.

He was very professional and courteous while in the home and didn’t leave any sort of mess behind.

I was skeptical that a plumber could have all 5 star reviews, but now I see why. I’d recommend Nate anytime!

Nate did an amazing job!  My basement flooded and I called for a sump pump replacement.  He was able to come within a few hours and his prices were cheaper than a lot of other places.  He was so professional and did an awesome job! He will definitely be our first call with any other plumbing issues.

Nate was recommended by another neighbor who had similar plumbing work done.  He removed two aging water heaters and replaced them with a tankless system.  He clearly explained the work to be done.  He answered any questions that I had regarding moving to tankless.  He only installs quality equipment.  I was able to get worked into the schedule right away.  Nate was very professional.  He laid out floor coverings and he wore boot covers.  I didn’t have to ask him twice for perfection; it seems it’s just in his DNA to do the job right the first time.  Thanks again Nate for a quick, fairly priced and painless project!
